Guess who sat down with the most recentStellaris DLC YouTube shortand screenshotted all 125 new specimens! This guy.
There were two more also hidden on theYouTube voting page, so I picked those up too. Likewise, I added one specimen of my own creation using theStellaris fan comicI have (needless self-promotion here).

I'm hoping that, in the future, Genetic Ascension will get new enhanced governments like Cybernetic and Synthetic. Here are a few ideas I have.
Here's the original post that I did on this subject.

My character Runt has changed a lot over her current adventure. The first two pictures exemplify that. Not only has she broken off with her Mama, she's grown healthier and heartier. However, while she's striving for her "Good End, she has a number of bad endings she needs to avoid.
Below is a note involving her potential futures. From experimental Goodberries, her Mama's Studies, body theft, and utter cowardice, she hopes to reach her happy ending.
Cousin Runt-Level 9 Hexblooded Bladsinger (Gnoll).
Runt's Futures: (Worst to best)
Dead: In many futures, Runt dies a mundane death. Despite her plans, her schemes, and her luck, she finds herself in the grave, with no way of coming back.
Worthless Runt: In certain futures, Runt becomes so hopeless, that she attempts to flee and hide from her mama. In most of these worlds, she ends up dead. In some, she’s able to maneuver herself to somewhere safe, with lots of foods and books. She’s rots a slow death there, turning into a worthless blob.
Mama's Minion: One of the saddest futures for Runt is the potential of her not breaking free of her Mama. She remains a slave to her machinations and is too loyal, and too afraid, to go against her word. She’ll die eventually, but she’ll never be more than a pathetic, groveling little sycophant to her Ma.
Berry Blighted: When met with the insane, Runt’s mind was shattered. Her obsession with her cooking became a mania with her, and her experiments began to warp her, and those who ate her food. Her goodberries now grow, infecting the woods and world around her. However, she’s become as rotten and fermented as her own fruit.
Runt the Clown: Mama’s blood is quite infectious. After her death, her foul nature infected Runt, warping her into a parody of herself. She may have her strength, but she’s also inherited her foul throne.
Envy Incarnate: Mama, proud of her youngest daughter, decided to reward her. She took Runt’s mind, her soul, and transplanted them into Lilly’s body. Worse yet, Runt reveled in her new form. The souls of her sisters, revolted, left her to her own future. The Seven Sisters: One day, Runt realized the truth. That her power, and the love for her sisters, was stronger than her mother's. Together, she and the spirits of her sisters came together and bashed her mother to oblivion. They came together and fell the tyrant. And they all lived happily ever after.

Pox & Plume: ASCEND DANG YOU!Has anyone ever noticed that you can't upgrade your Paragon Leaders once you ascend? Like, it's frustrating watching one of your best leaders die because they won't get surgery that will extend their life 20+ years.
The main problem stems that their race is "Unknown", and as such they can't benefit from any changes that affect a species' traits.
Like, I understand if a Spiritualist refuses Cybernetic or Synthetic Ascension, or if a Materialist refuses Spiritualist doctrine, but there's no reason why Q'la should be refusing Genetic enhancements, Borin refusing cybernetic enhancements, or Xondar refusing a synthetic touch-up.
When all of your other leaders are taking these traits, it feels like an unnecessary nerf for the Paragons.
Anyways, I made a comic of it.
Pox & Plume: CAN I PLEASE TALK TO A PHYSICAL REPRESENTATIVE?!My submission for the #Stellartis contest. Poor Pox had to deal with a virtual assistant, who has no idea WHY her new tech is flooding her feed with errors.
And you thought spam callers were bad? Try virtual clerks.

Federations were a mistake.
In my most recent Stellaris game, I was doing fine. I was Galactic Custodian, my planets were flourishing, my Federation was magnificent.
Then, my Federation's partner, the Gorf Gorf, ended up dragging me into a Galactic War against a rivaling federation. It took years, but we defeated them.
THEN the Contingency woke up. I cursed, and managed to destroy ONE of their planets, but then AN AWOKEN EMPIRE DECLARED WAR ON THE GORF GORF.
It sheared through half of my empire, and I just decided that I was kinda done with that file.
Still. I wish that I could abandon my federation mates who were stupid enough to annoy my enemies into war with them. SERIOUSLY. It wasn't worth it, but I was stuck in a war I couldn't leave because of some war-hungry mushrooms. At least give us some influence on ending wars or leaving wars that don't involve us.

Don't know why I'm on a DND kick. Anyways, my character Runt (Level 9 Hexblood Bladesinger) and her Mama, Auntie Loonette.

My character Runt (Level 9 Bladesong Wizard) is in a bit of trouble. After a siege against an allied castle, it was revealed that her Mama (Auntie Loonette) was working with a group who wants to destroy the current pantheon.
Unfortunately/Fortunately, during an interrogation, our ranger Jorm asked the right question and got Runt to admit her hatred towards them and that she wanted her dead. This resulted in Runt's head nearly exploding, and the group sympathized with Runt for her minor treason.

A picture I drew of my current party. Unfortunately we don't have a proper party name, but we have manage to survive from Level 3.
The Party Consists of:
Runt:A Gnoll (Hexblood) Bladesinger. She comes from the swamp lands and, up until recently, acted as a spy for her "mama". She's since left her mother's good graces, and is hoping to just survive. Also a dang-good cook.
Jorm:A ranger from the west. He's out for revenge after the Beastwitch killed his family. He controls fireflies!
Haylen:A partially-disgraced soldier and Paladin. He got in trouble with his commanding officer after his unit was killed due to bad bureaucracy. He's on sabbatical, dealing with his anger and his brother. The team's healer. (Played by @ak8star)
Adolphus:A stuck up elven noble, whose sold his soul to a celestial. He loves keeping things secret, even when he shouldn't.
Speaks of Hope:A Kitsune Gladiator from a far-away land. She focuses on keeping the balance, and scouting the battlefield. Her player unfortunately misses quite a few games, so our party hasn't been able to delve into her backstory as much.
Chentrix:A little-old witch of the forest. She's searching for more information on her mother's research, and is the only parent figure of the group.
Currently, Runt is in a bit of trouble. After a siege against an allied castle, it was revealed that her Mama (Auntie Loonette) was working with a group who wants to destroy the current pantheon. This group includes Ellis (Haylen's Brother) and the Beast Witch (Jorm's Nemesis).
Unfortunately/Fortunately, during an interrogation, Runt admitted her hatred towards her mother for killing her sisters, and that she wanted her dead. This resulted in Runt's head nearly exploding, and the group giving sympathy towards Runt for her minor treason.
The group is investigating portals to another dimension, shards of an ancient god, and blueberry pancakes. Runt has recently gotten obsessed with Goodberries, and is working on ways to improve their usage on the battlefield. (Explosive goodberries anyone?)
Their biggest sponsor is the Wizard Guild, the Order of Yotur. All of this setting of course has been homebrewed by our awesome GM. Overall, it's been going on for a few years and going well.
Our group seems to have the bad habit of starting fights with SIGNIFICANTLY stronger foes, but we haven't died yet. Runt just hopes she'll be able to rescue her sister Lilly and resurrect her other dead sisters.

So my husband has posted several comics that involve the race I ended up running when I attempted Stellaris. I have yet to get to a game win cause it gets so complicated real fast compared to Civ games. I'm woefully behind on DLC for Stellaris so most of my little shroom guys (known as the Gorf Gorf) are simply another empire in my husband's games as he made a point to make a copy of the Gorfs so he could have them in his games.
The Gorf Gorf are a hedonistic Oligarchy empire that employs caterpillar aliens known as Shrek (it was a dumb at the time haha funny name that just stuck after changing what game gave as a name for the Syncretic Evolution race) as servants (among other things). The Gorf are fanatical spiritualists who worship the Great Gorf.
Fun fact: Since Gorfs mainly communicate in spores they usually need devices to translate these into speech. These devices come in a few forms such as below:
Ebony Wolfbane is a Gorf I played as for a Fate rpg game set in space. From streamer to spy they navigate the stars via their modified mobility rig of a chair and computer that has an on board AI named Archie. I had made this character with a running set of gags or puns to mystery novel detective Nero Wolfe. They acted as the party's main tech/hacker of the group using their gamer skills when needed.

So, in Stellaris, there is a potential event where, when trading with a Pre-FTL society, they will make cute dolls of your race.
Typically, this event is ruined if you’re a Megacorp, as you ask them for a cut of the profits. However, given the new DLC, I was testing out a different origin, and as such was able to get the “Stuffed Toy” Empire Modifier.
It’s definitely one of my favorite events, alongside the Worm.

A picture of Auntie Loonette from her youth. Back when she had both arms.
Auntie Loonette is a character of my own creation, and "mother" to my character, Cousin Runt.
The vest pattern, the library background, and the portrait frame are both in the public domain. The DND setting is the creation of my DM.

Something I try to keep in mind when making art that looks vintage is keeping a limited color pallette. Digital art gives you a very wide, Crisp scope of colors, whereas traditional art-- especially older traditional art-- had a very limited and sometimes dulled use of color.
This is a modern riso ink swatch, but still you find a similar and limited selection of colors to mix with. (Mixing digitally as to emulate the layering of ink riso would be coloring on Multiply, and layering on top of eachother 👉)
If you find some old prints, take a closer look and see if you can tell what colors they used and which ones they layered... a lot of the time you'll find yellow as a base!
Misprints can really reveal what colors were used and where, I love misprints...
Something else I keep in the back of my mind is: how the human eye perceives color on paper vs. a screen. Ink and paint soaks into paper, it bleeds, stains, fades over time, smears, ect... the history of a piece can show in physical wear. What kind of history do you want to emulate? Misprinted? Stained? Kept as clean as possible, but unable to escape the bluing damages of the sun? It's one of my favorite things about making vintage art. Making it imperfect!
You can see the bleed, the wobble of the lines on the rug, the fading, the dirt... beautiful!!
Thinking in terms of traditional-method art while drawing digital can help open avenues to achieving that genuine, vintage look!
possessedpasm
ALSO!!
YELLOWING!! Digital art is very blue-light based. Cold, clean, flat. But traditional art has warmth to it. Why?
Over time, paper gets yellowed with dust, oil, dirt, and nicotine from cigarettes! So colors got warmer. This makes art look pretty aged, on top of the slight toned papers and hand made/factory made inks they printed with.

Three pictures of my current DND character's Mama, Auntie Loonette. The Former General of the God Tarshiv, she was eventually banished and exiled, forced to raise seven silly gnolls.
I did three versions of the picture, normal, flat-colors, and grainy.
